George Puscas (Romanian: Puşcaş), born April 8, 1927, in Detroit, Michigan, was an American sports writer renowned for his long career with the Detroit Free Press.
The son of grocer Nicolae Puscas on Detroit's east side, he joined the Free Press as a copyboy in September 1941 at age 14 and served in the United States Army during World War II before returning to journalism.
George Puscas earned his first byline in October 1946 while studying at Wayne University, covering local teams like the Wayne Tartars, University of Detroit, Lawrence Institute of Technology, and Detroit high school athletics.
