Eddie Saenz, born Edwin Matthew Saenz on September 21, 1923, in Santa Monica, California, was an American professional football player known for his role as a running back with the Washington Redskins in the National Football League.
He played college football at the University of Southern California and was instrumental in USC's victory in the 1944 Rose Bowl. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and also played football for the Great Lakes Naval Academy.
Known by the nickname "Tortilla" due to his Mexican American heritage, he was drafted by the Redskins in the 15th round of the 1945 NFL Draft and played with the team for five years, excelling both offensively as a halfback and defensively. His career was cut short by injury, leading to his early retirement from professional football.
