From a young age, Sam Smith showed a keen interest in music, impressing their parents with a rendition of Whitney Houston's "My Love Is Your Love." They pursued vocal training and appeared in local theater productions and with Youth Music Theatre UK.

His big break came in 2012 when they featured on Disclosure's single "Latch," which became a hit. This collaboration landed them a record deal. In 2013, they released "Lay Me Down," the first single from their debut album, "In the Lonely Hour." The album, released in 2014, included hits like "Stay with Me," which became a radio staple. The album's success earned Sam four Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist and Record of the Year.

In 2015, his song "Writing's on the Wall" served as the theme for the James Bond film "Spectre." This song won them a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award for Best Original Song. Their second studio album, "The Thrill of It All," was released in 2017 and topped the UK and US album charts. The lead single, "Too Good at Goodbyes," reached number one in the UK and Australia.
